I went in this morning and Max was reasonably good – in 21-15% O2 most of the time, sometimes a bit higher. It’s been hard for the staff to work out how Max is going with his oral feeds as the stoma bag issues continue, but Dr Michael thinks we may have reached Max’s limit. So, he’s reduced the oral feeds and increased the PN 1 ml each – so his total intake remains the same. The fluid loss from the stoma is also being replaced.
We went back in the afternoon as Sofie, Shane & the girls were coming to visit. The new bag has also leaked, so they’ve put back one of the old version. There is a bit of a red patch of skin now on his abdomen, from all the removing and reapplying of adhesive. But, there were some good pasty bits coming out of the stoma at the time. His feeds are now profused, not gavage-fed (ie 12 ml over 2 hours continuously).
