both days, almost always under 30% and lots of the time around the 23-24% mark. We had a couple of cuddles, and he surprised us all by managing to stay on low flow oxygen overnight for nearly 6 hours! He is still producing a lot of nasal secretions, but this seems to be caused by the CPAP. It can make it hard for him to breathe when it gets too much, and that’s when he may braddy. But even they are becoming far less frequent than last week. His operation is definitely set for Monday. I was talked through the basic pre- and post-operation procedures, and now I’m getting scared again.
On Thursday (his ‘three-month birthday’) we took in our usual bag full of lollies to the unit, and had a cuddle with him on low-flow oxygen. He went on it at about 4.30pm, we left about 6pm, with him reasonably settled (still on the low flow) but wide awake and looking at the toys which are now hanging from the quilt over his head. I’m still struggling to work out the colour of his eyes – I’m convinced at the moment that they are brown – but Mark thinks they’re a very dark blue. Weird. Ah well, we’ll find out. Weight = 2255g.
